Eagles Bluff Golf Performance Center: The Part of Eagles Bluff You Don't Need a Membership For

Most people hear "Eagles Bluff" and think private club. That is fair. The country club on North Eagles Bluff Boulevard has an Augusta-style layout across roughly 230 acres, and the Dallas Morning News has called it the top-ranked private golf course in East Texas.

But right next door, there is a building with a different set of rules. The Golf Performance Center is open to the public, and it may be the best reason to put Bullard on your list even if you never plan to join a club.

What is actually inside

The Golf Performance Center is home to the John Sikes Golf Academy. The club describes it as a state-of-the-art public facility, and the equipment list backs that up. There are 12 TrackMan stations, hitting bays, an indoor putting studio, and both indoor and outdoor practice areas. The short-game areas are large enough that you can spend an afternoon on nothing but chipping and bunker play.

TrackMan matters here because it turns a bad feeling into a number. Instead of walking off the range thinking your driver "felt off," you see the club speed, the face angle and the spin. For a golfer who takes the game seriously, that is the difference between practicing and guessing.

The center also handles club fitting, which is worth knowing if you have ever bought a set off the rack and wondered why it never quite fit.

Lessons, clinics and the family angle

The programs cover a wide range. Private lessons run from $100 to $140 a session depending on the instructor. Skills clinics are capped at eight students, and women's clinics are capped at twelve, which keeps them small enough to be useful.

The junior side is where it gets interesting for families. There is a Littles program for ages 4 to 6, and tiered teams for older kids: Futures for ages 6 to 8, Elevate for 9 to 11, Excel for 12 to 13, and Elite for 14 to 18. PGA Jr. League runs May through July, and summer camps are open to ages 5 to 13.

There are also free range parties on Saturday evenings. If you are new to town, that is a low-pressure way to meet neighbors, and nobody is checking whether you belong.

Why this matters if you are thinking about moving here

Golf communities usually ask one big question up front: are you in or out? Here, the answer is more flexible. The club is private, but the practice facility is public, and limited memberships are available if you decide you want more.

That changes how you can shop. You can live in Bullard, use the Performance Center every week, and decide about the club later, after you have a feel for the place. Plenty of buyers like having that option.

It also says something about where Bullard is headed. A town that builds a public, tech-heavy practice facility next to a private club is a town planning for people who play golf at every level, not just the ones with a locker.

A few things people ask
